John Rajala, age 73, of 6398 Eastside 23.2 Drive, Gladstone passed away Wednesday morning May 6, 2015 at the Marquette General Hospital, in Marquette, following a lengthy illness.

John was united in marriage to Patricia Rae Micheau on November 24, 1962, in Gladstone. Patricia preceded John in death on October 25, 2013. John faithfully served in the United States Navy from 1960 through 1969. John and Pat resided in many locations while he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Due to the love of his family, he decided it was best to not re-enlist and returned to the Upper Peninsula to be close to family. John was employed and retired from Soo Line Railroad and CP Railroad. John loved hunting, fishing, trapping, cooking for Pat after retirement, and spending time at camp. He frequently talked about the times he spent at camp with family and especially enjoyed

    Dear Sheri, Kathy, Bob and Joe, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I know this is a difficult time for all of you, however, your dad and mom are now together. Their hard times are over.     Bob , so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad … I will surely miss visting with him when he would stop at Super Valu …one of my favorite customers .

    I’ll never forget him. The laughs, teasing comments back and forth, the discipline when we were little, the Finn/Croatian talks, Kipling, the Camp Days, the cussing, the smirks, the pipe, etc., etc., etc… He loved our family just as much as we love him.
