Joan M. Leadman, 81, of Escanaba, formerly of Stonington, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, after a brief illness surrounded by family.

Joan was born on June 11, 1941 in Nahma, the daughter of Wilfred & Marie (Runkel) Willette.  She attended Holy Name School and graduated from Escanaba High School.On July 11, 1959, Joan was united in marriage to Edward L. Leadman and the couple made their home in Stonington.  Joan was a resident care worker at Whispering Pines and also volunteered for the senior companion program for several years.  She loved to cook and bake, enjoyed crafting, and more than anything else, Joan valued the time she spent with her family. She also took pleasure in playing cards and having “teatime” with her friends at West Highland. Joan will be remembered for her great sense of humor, selfless nature, and the unending love and support she shared for her family right to the very end.

Joan is survived by her children, Lynn Herzog of Rapid River, Sandra (Rev. Dave) Hueter of Cheboygan, Mark (April) Leadman of Marquette, Brian (Chelsi) Leadman, Daren (Jenise) Leadman, and Steve (Cassy) Leadman all of Rapid River; grandchildren, Pamela, David, Casey, Tricia, Holly, Michael, Jared, Austin M., Trevor, Tristen, Adrianna, Justin, Corey, Olivia, Andrew, Maxwell, Austin A., and Zachary; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson due in December.  She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Eleanor Siitar; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; her daughter, Pamela in 1965; her infant sister, Ella Mae; sisters, Joyce Bergeon and Jean Viau, brother, Bill; and son-in-law, Dave Herzog.Visitation for Joan will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home, 706 Wisconsin Ave., Gladstone. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at the Lakewood Cemetery in Stonington.
