Jessie Myers, age 90, of Danforth, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022, at her home.
Jessie was born on September 7, 1932, in Escanaba, the daughter of Floyd Jacob and Mary Louise Flinn (VanEffen). Jessie was raised in Escanaba and attended Escanaba Area Schools. In 1949, Jessie moved to Detroit where she married her former husband, Eugene Myers. While there, they welcomed their first son, Jimmy. Then in 1951, they relocated back to Escanaba where they called home.
Jessie was a gifted seamstress and loved sewing clothes. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Throughout her life she worked as both a nurse’s aid at the old hospital as well as head of housekeeping at the Escanaba Medi Center. Jessie will be remembered for her kind heart and generosity. She was always willing to help anyone in need, and always willing to take anyone in that needed help.
Jessie is survived by her children; Jimmy (Cathy) Myers, Terry Myers, William Myers, and Mary Myers, brothers; John (Ann) Flinn and Walter (Sandy) Flinn, grandchildren; Norman (Natalie) Larson, Melissa Myers, Amanda (Robert) Murray, Joshua Myers, Amber (Joe) Lantagne, and Ryan Myers, several great-grandchildren.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sally (Wally) Palmer, brothers Floyd “Sonny’ Flinn and Franklin Flinn, and ex-husband, Eugene Myers.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the United Steelworkers Local 2-21 Hall located at 1201 Sheridan Road in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Myers family.
