    Dear Laurie,
Many years have passed since I have written a letter to you, as a matter of fact it was in the fifties. I wish tho that it could be of better times for you.

I was very sorry to hear of your mothers passing, especially that she lived in Gladstone for many years. I did not know that she moved back from California. If I would have known I would have been happy to have visited her and taken her for rides.

Do you remember when your mother cooked the ducks that I had shot? One was a fish duck and Oh my God what a stench I can still smell it when I think back on the old memories.

I used to visit your Grandmother when I would come home on leave from the Navy. I cared very much for her as she was a very kind person and always thought of others first.

Please let me know when your mother is going to be buried as I would like to be there. I would like very much if you would call or E-mail. I still live and have the family home on the Lake at Ford River. All the kids are gone now but are always arround to visit or just have fun. They are all very successful in their own lives. And by the way I do not deliver groceries anymore, you and your mother were the last. Phone no. is (906)786-1206. Please get in touch.

    Always Your Friend

Jeannette was my grandmother’s roommate (Gladys Buckland) at Pine Haven for a number of years. She was always pleasant to be around and came to many family functions. It saddens me that she has passed as it does our whole family
