James Larson

James “Jim” A. Larson, age 83, of Rapid River, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Jim was born February 28, 1933, in Stambaugh, Michigan, the son of Arthur Larson and Agnes (Proksch) Pavlish. He graduated from Hayward Free High in 1951. Following high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He was united in marriage to Jean Ann Bezzi on October 1, 1955 in Caspian, Michigan. In 1962, Jim graduated from Michigan Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Over the next 30 years, Jim worked for the Federal Government as a Civil Engineer. He retired from KI Sawyer Air Force Base in 1992.

Jim was a member of the American Legion, Rapid River Lions Club, Swedish Club, Rapid River 4 Township Senior Citizens, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending his winters in Texas. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, a 30 year member of Masonville volunteer fire department, and was proud to be a 2014 member of the U.P. Honor Flight.

Brother: Jon (Brigitte) Larson of Castle Rock, CO

Sister-in-law: Mavis Larson of Tucson, AZ

Grandchildren: Ashley Marcotte and Travis Marcotte

Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins

Jim was preceded in death by his Brother, Donald Larson.

Graveside services will be on Friday, October, 28, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Rapid River Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Rapid River American Legion Post #301. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Larson family.
