James Dale Black of Gladstone, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2019. Jim was born July 18, 1949, to Ralph and Gracie Anna Black.
Jim lived in Gladstone for many years, he came from Drummond Island where he was born and raised. He worked at Pentecost Construction for years where he made his living. He also worked for Gary Johnson Construction as a mechanic and operator. They became very good friends. There wasn’t anything Mr. Johnson wouldn’t do for Jim, as Jim would do anything for him as well.
He enjoyed many adventures on his motorcycle. He loved to ride and take in the scenery. His favorite past time was spending hours fishing on his boat on the waters enjoying the peace and quiet. The last 22 years he resided with Jerry and Darlene Clausen. He truly became part of their family. He was a “Clausen” through and through.
Jim enjoyed doing carpentry for people he knew, and work on cars. There’s nothing Jim wouldn’t do for the Clausen’s. He was well liked by everyone he knew.
Jim is survived by:
Daughter: Stacy (Eric) Christensen of Okemos, MI
3 Sisters: Hope Black, Faith Black, and Carol Gutzman
2 Grandchildren: Landon and Delaney
And many Nieces and Nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by:

And Sister: Shirley Thompson
Jim had many friends including best friends Phyllis and Billy Godfrey, the Clausen family, Gary Johnson, and a very special friend, Linda Nelson.
