To the memory of my dear Aunt Jackie,

I remember you as always cheerful, ready with a joke or amusing quip, smiling more often than not. I still recall all those hikes we took into the north woods when no one else would take me, such fun, looking for bears and porcupines. And your dog Nikki that always had to be patted on the rump. By the way, that shot of peppermint schnapps you gave me was damned awful, but I think it was for your amusement more than my youthful edification. Every time I have a craving for Cheerios with melted butter, I will think of you. Rest easy, your labors on earth have come to completion. A life well lived, well loved, well done.

Aunt Jackie, I will miss you. As your great niece I spent a lot of time with you. I’ll remember you and uncle Harold letting us swim in your pool, catching crawdads in the creek behind your house, Michigan tummy, kings in a corner and learning to breast my cards. A part of my childhood was spent living next door. I remember loving to lay on the bridge or cut through to the clearing. I too remember buttered cheerios. I still make them from time to time. Till we meet again. Love, Shirley May
