Irene Ohlen Rushford, age 91, former Rapid River and Gladstone resident passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2009 after a lengthy illness at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba. She was born in Gould City, Michigan on July 29th, 1918 to the late Allen and Marion (LeGault) Gillis. Irene married Austin O. Ohlen, Sr. in 1939 and they made their home in Rapid River where they lived and raised their children until Austin

I have been thinking of you all since reading about your Mom. Growing up just around the corner from you on Delta County Road 428, we rode the bus together, went to games at Perkins High School and more. Our parents went to school together at Rapid River High School (Lawrence and Cleo Langford Wils)!!

What a dear sweet soul Irene was. I knew her from the Gladstone senior Center. Just a little Ball of Energy. I always enjoyed our little chats together. Love to see her dancing at the amvets. She was a great little lady. Now she can dance in Heaven with her favorite partners.
