Irene B. Eagle, age 99, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

Irene was born November 20, 1922, in Gladstone, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Perrow) Lucier. Irene grew up in Gladstone and attended Gladstone High School. On November 12, 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Ralph Eagle and together they spent 63 wonderful years together before his passing in 2002. Irene and Ralph were not only husband and wife, but true friends and partners in their life’s journey.

Irene worked as a nurse’s aid at OSF St. Francis Hospital as well as being a seamstress at Regal Bridal Salon. She also worked with the US Postal Service. Irene served on the PTA, was a Brampton Township school board member, was a 4-H leader and a CCD teacher. She enjoyed making wedding cakes, sewing, knitting, quilt making, crocheting, and rubber stamping. Everyone loved her homemade bread. Irene spent many winters in Inverness, FL with her loving husband Ralph.

Irene is survived by her children, Patricia Valiquette, Susan Guindon, Barbara Harris, Jean Johnson, and Alice Eagle, son-in-law Cal Moreau, daughter-in-law Doris Eagle, 26 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eagle, her parents, children Richard (Judy) Eagle, David Eagle, and Judy Moreau, brother Joseph Lucier Sr., sisters Ione Laraby and Lorraine Shepley Gannon, sister-in-law Visitacion “Bessie” Espiritu, brothers-in-law Earl Shepley and Logan Laraby, sons-in-law Thomas Harris, Dwain Valiquette, and Gerald Guindon, as well as grandchildren Molly Broeders, Daniel Pfiester, and Daniel Kleiber.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 2:15 PM to 4:15 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A rosary will begin visitation at 2:15 PM. Mass of Christian Burial honoring Irene will begin at 5 PM at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.     So sorry to hear the news of Irenes passing. we all have so many memories with the times that our families have spent together throughout the years. Let’s hope they are all joined together once again and square dancing or playing rummy 500.

    Alice I am sending prayers and hugs to your family on your Moms passing. We would love to be there with all of you but we are shut down in Kansas due to heavy rain, high winds & possible tornados. Please know that my l heart is there with all of you girls .
