Hildur Tardiff

Hildur A. (Oberg) Tardiff, age 93, of 1007 7th Avenue South, passed away Saturday morning September 19, 2009, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Hildur was born February 22, 1916 at the family home in Rapid River. She was the third of nine children born to Swedish immigrants, Daniel and Jenny (Persson) Oberg. Hildur attended and graduated from the Rapid River High School in 1934. She continued on to gain employment for Employers Mutual Insurance Company, in Escanaba, and later in Detroit. Prior to that time, she worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, MD. Hildur married Ray Tardiff on March 15, 1947 in Detroit, MI. Ray worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Rapid River, Moran and St. Ignace. Hildur worked for the Michigan Unemployment Department and the Mackinac Bridge Authority as a secretary to the manager. Upon retirement in 1973, the Tardiffs returned to the Days River area. Ray passed away in 1977. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Hildur enjoyed playing bridge, piano and organ, and was the organist at the Lutheran church in St. Ignace for many years. She belonged to S.E.R.A. (State Employees Retirement Association), N.A.R.F.E. (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and was a social member of the Escanaba Country Club and Circle at the Bethany Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her nieces and nephews in the family.

Many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
