Hazel Viola Oman, formerly of Falun, WI, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2016 at the home of Dennis and Betty Oman of Kipling at the age of 94 years.

Hazel was born the second daughter of John and Marie (Karlsson) Beck on November 14, 1921 in Laketown Township , Polk County, WI. She was Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and remained a strong Christian all her life. She attended grade school at East Laketown and Luck High School before moving to Falun in 1937. She graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1939.

Hazel married her only boyfriend George Oman on July 18, 1943 while on furlough before shipping overseas with the U.S. Army. On his return from service, George built a home in Falun where they raised three children and Hazel resided for 64 years.

Hazel worked at Carlson and Johnson Store and at North States Ind. For twenty years where she made many friends.

Hazel enjoyed embroidery, knitting and gifting baby blankets. She loved the wild birds and being with her family and friends.

She leaves to celebrate her life a son, Dennis (Betty) Oman of Kipling, MI and daughter, Kris (Matt) Anderson of Siloam Springs, Ark, as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Preceding Hazel in death were her parents, sister Edith, husband George, son David, and grandson Bradley.

Services will be held at Falun Baptist Church, Falun, WI on Saturday February 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM C.S.T. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Oman family.
