Harvey S. Fournier, age 88, of Escanaba (Soo Hill), passed away early Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, in Escanaba.

Harvey was born March 24, 1925, in Gaylord, MI, the son of Joseph and Jessie (Babcock) Fournier. He was raised primarily in Perkins and graduated from the Perkins High School. Following school, Harvey enlisted in the United States Army Air Force, serving with the 13th Air Force, aboard the B-24 Liberator Bomber, in the South Pacific. Throughout his enlistment, from 1943 to 1945, Harvey flew over 44 missions, logging more than 2200 hours as a gunner, during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945 and at the rank of Staff Sergeant, Harvey returned home to Perkins. On November 16, 1946, Harvey was united in marriage to the former Ramona Sheffer, at St. Charles Church in Perkins. Together the couple resided in Gladstone before building and relocating to Soo Hill, where they made their home and raised their family. Harvey was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Mead Paper for 43 years. During his retirement years, he and Ramona enjoyed traveling to Florida, Arkansas and Arizona. His loving wife Ramona preceded him in death on January 7, 2007. Harvey was a member of St. Anthony Church in Wells. In addition, he was a member of the AmVets and enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry work, building homes, flying, and was a Green Bay Packers fan.

Sisters: Bertha Johnson and Agatha Branstrom both of Perkins, MI
Grandchildren: Tonya (Bob) Munroe, Tracy (Jim) Gendron, Doug (Heather), Brian and
Craig (Eddie Moritz) Bonno, Justin and Daniel Cappeart
Great Grandchildren: Lexi and Ethan Bonno and 1 precious great grandchild

    Sorry to hear of the passing of Harvey. We had many good times and visiting when the children were small. We were fortunate to observe the great love he and Ramona had for their children and grandchildren.
