Harvey Holm

Harvey Holm, age 90, of Menomonee Falls, WI, formerly of Milwaukee and Gladstone passed away Friday April 29, 2011 at his residence in Menomonee Falls.
Harvey was born September 16, 1920 in Escanaba the son of Axel and Esther Holm. He was raised in Gladstone where he graduated in 1938 from the Gladstone High School. While at Gladstone High he played basketball for the Gladstone Braves.

Harvey served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1961. He was a Chief Warrant Officer stationed on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Lexington that went down in the Coral Sea during WW II. Upon his honorable discharge in 1961 he was awarded the American Defense Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and the National Defense Medal.

Following his duty to his country, Harvey returned to Milwaukee where he worked for Allis Chalmers for several years. He then worked and retired from the Allen Bradley Corporation.

Harvey was an avid reader and a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks.

In addition to his life long mate, Martha and her children, survivors include, brother Clay (Theresa) Holm of Gladstone, niece Linda (Rick) Shumard of Gladstone and nephews, Barry Holm, Brian (Debbie) Holm and Bruce (Diana) Holm, all of Gladstone and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his brother, Loren.

Harvey will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI with military rites conducted by U.S. Navy. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and
