Pat, Our condolences to you and your family. Harlan was such a caring and fun loving person. I so enjoyed our time in choral society with the both of you. May your many memories bring you wonderful smiles in the years to come.

So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing, he was a great guy, and always had a smile, and a great story to share, our prayers are with all of you!
Always smiling, always curious about the world, always concerned about others’ welfare. Buck leaves an honorable legacy that is recognized and appreciated by those who knew him.
Just read this very sad news, and wanted to reach out to the Buckmans right away to say we have you in our prayers as you wrestle with this huge hole in your lives. Your dad was such a fantastic guy with a megawatt smile and a heart to match, and we are sorry he had to leave us here on Earth. Blessings and love to all of you from across the miles!
Mr. Buckman was a teach of mine for Retail Traded for the ISD. I am so sorry for your loss, as I also feel his loss. It never felt like a class, but a family. It was nearly 35 years ago that I had him as a teacher, but we were bumped from place to place….Attic of shopko, lounge of redowl, A closed mall restaurant, then finally above the daily press. With each move we made our family grew tighter and closer. We became best friends. It is kind of through that class that I met my now husband of over 30 years. May God Bless your family with many, many wonderful, joyful memories
Want to express our condolences on the loss of Buck. I first met him when managing a Nobil shoe store, and he wanted to work with me in placing some of his retail trades kids in a job. We did, and some went on to bigger and better things. A great teacher/leader. Again, sorry for your loss, Jim and Jeanette Andersen
Julie, Bruce, and Eric, Your parents were wonderful people, awesome leaders in the community, and their contributions were immense! May they rest in peace! Our deepest condolences.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I worked with Harlan at the ISD in the late 70’s. He always had a smile and kind word. He was respected by all who worked with him. May God bless him.
Sorry we cannot be there for the funeral. Harlan was a great mentor and friend. His smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed but has influenced so many. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
I am sorry Julie, Bruce, and Eric for the loss of your dad. There are not enough pages to say how Mr. (and Mrs.) Buckman touched my life and I am sure the rest of the Graham family would agree. Growing up across the street from the Buckman’s was such a privilege and learning experience. Most of all fun! As my brother Rick said, so many great memories. The apple orchard trips, drive-in movies, and laughter! RIP Mr. Buckman. Your smile and joy of life will be missed.
We are saddened to learn of the death of Harlan. He will always be remembered as a friendly and warm person, so proud of his heritage and his roots. He was a welcomed addition to our Hastings community and will be greatly missed.
I will refer to Harlan as “Mr. Buckman” as he was my “Retail Trades” teacher at the ISD. I had to send my condolences to all his family. I remember being very shy in school and he encouraged me to speak up and “sell myself” because that would be necessary when applying for jobs. He was a teacher who looked out for us to better ourselves. He was very good at his job and I appreciated all he did for me as a student. I just wanted you to know he made an impression with me and will be dearly missed.
So sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Buckman. I have fond memories of living next door to The Buckman’s when I was growing up in Flint. I remember him always having a smile on his face. My thoughts are with Julie, Bruce, Eric and the rest of the family at this sad time. I know he will be missed! Sincerely, Diane Oppenheiser
