My sympathies go out to the Martens family. The Gus I knew was a happy-go-lucky, great guy with a big smile on his face – and a wonderful family man. I don’t know of anyone who didn’t think highly of Gus, who was one of the pillars of the Rapid River community. He’ll be sorely missed.

Grandpa “G-pa” was so kind, caring and above all, thoughtful…he always thought of the smallest little details that seemed to mean the most. These are the memories we will carry with us to keep a smile on our faces during these difficult times when we will miss him so. We truly were blessed to have had such a wonderful man to “head” our family.

Sorry to hearing of the passing of your husband and father. We only had the opportunity a few times to meet with Marion and “Uncle Gus” up in Rapid River with Ray & Linda Rivard. We were welcomed into their home and treated very warmly, just like family. Gus will be missed by all who knew him and those who were touched by his kindness and love. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you heal with the peace of the Lord. God Bless.
