Gerald J. Wigger, age 87, of Rapid River, Michigan passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home.

Gerald was born September 5,1929 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Henry and Cora (Vanzyl) Wigger. After graduating from McBain High School, Gerald was drafted into the United States Army and spent time stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Michigan State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Soil Sciences. He spent many years working as a soil scientist for the United States Forest Service and retired with them.

Gerald enjoyed working with wood, landscaping, hunting, and fishing. His passion was logging on his camp property. He also loved spending time with his family and favorite dog, at his camp.

Randy (Jodi Canney) Wigger of Rapid River, MI
Scott Wigger of Sobieski, WI
1 Daughter: Jodie (Randy) DiPiazza of Cedar Springs, MI
1 Brother: Lawrence Bloemsma
1 Sister: Donna Peterson
5 Grandchildren: Tyler, Zachary, Calvin, Bradley, and Benjamin
Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins
Special Friends: Perry & Carol Verbeek and Family, and special friend and helper Tammy Delke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by:
2 Brothers: Bob & Benjamin Wigger
1 Sister: Betty Ann Wigger

Gerald’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will begin at 4:00 P.M. and be presented by the Rapid River American Legion. Funeral services for Gerald will follow with Rev. Pastor Bill Rafuse officiating at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A luncheon will follow at the Rapid River Congregational Church. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Richland Township Cemetery in McBain, Michigan.The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Wigger family.
