Gerald “Jerry” Onufrock went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 91 years and 6 months.
Jerry was born in Chicago, IL on November 11, 1925. Following high school, he spent 3 years in the Navy Seabees. Following his time in the service, he joined “God’s Invasion Army,” a mission group of the Baptist General Conference for 1 year.
In 1952, he married Joyce Larson, the daughter of Axel and Esther Larson of Gladstone, MI. The following year, they became house parents for 6 years to 16 boys at Sunny Ridge Home for Children in Wheaton, IL. During this time he was able to complete 3 years of college.
Jerry became a painting contractor with his faithful and devoted friend, Gordon Fisk, for 23 years. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed 3 mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Africa. He also, along with his wife Joyce, enjoyed 6 years as a volunteer for RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christ’s’ Service) at which time they gained many life long friends. At the completion of RVICS, Jerry and Joyce enjoyed living in Rapid River, MI and spending winters in Florida. In 2012, they moved to Minneapolis, MN.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Delores.

9 Grandchildren
And 14 Great Grandchildren
A joint Memorial Service with Gordon Larson will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Grace Church in Gladstone, MI. Dr. Steven Patrick will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds will be given to Samaritan’s Purse.
