Gerald “Gerry” Spomer, age 70, of Rapid River passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Gerry was born July 16, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Walter and Katherine (Bergraf) Spomer. He was united in marriage to Mimi McNamee on June 5, 1991 in Escanaba. Together they loved to ride motorcycles and enjoyed traveling across the country. They enjoyed attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota for 28 years and visiting with their Sturgis family. He was a 29 year member of ABATE serving as a Operations Officer and RC Coordinator. He was also a talented painter.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Mimi of Rapid River, mother, Katherine Spomer of Rapid River, daughter, Cristine (Jay) Sarauer of Kenosha, WI, step-daughter, Dionne Lundh of Las Vegas, NV, step-son, Michael (Kelsey) Mueller of Madison, WI, grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Lainey, Trinity, Jason Thomas, Severin, Prudence and Eloise, brother, David Spomer of Rapid River, sister, Jeanne Hansen of Round Lake, Illinois and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.

    im so sorry for the loss of Jerry. I met him years ago at Murphs bar. He was such a super nice man. Lots of laughs and jokes when he was present. My heart goes out to his wife Mimi who is a beautiful person all the way around. They were the perfect couple. He will be missed by the Harley riders and Abate. Jerry convinced me to enter the wet Tshirt contest at a Abate party. I also won. Your a great guy and will be truly missed by so many people. May you rest in peace and hopefully i will see you again on the other side.

    gerry was the one who painted my geezer glide and made it real. I have missed his advice since I had to quit riding. He was a real biker and I will miss him. Regards and best wishes to his family.
