Gavan “Murph” Bowyer, age 76, of Escanaba, passed away April 4, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Hospital. His former wife, Susan Bowyer, is listed among the surviving family. Per Gavan’s wishes no formal services will take place. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Bowyer family.

I’ll always remember Murphy as one of my best friends in Junior High. We often had “stay-overs” at each other’s houses where he would no doubt direct some obscure science experiment or electrical project. Looking back, he obviously had a very high IQ which he never wanted to apply to actual school work. He was like an “evil scientist” antagonist to the Bark River School System! Being extremely intelligent, It has been said that he once taught himself how to play classical guitar during a stint in the Delta County Jail! We had gone our separate ways for High School and our adult lives, but I’ll always credit Murphy for inspiring my career.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to thank you in person before you left. Rest in Peace Murph ……. David
