Gary ‘Gobes’ E. Gobert

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died May 14, 2022

Gary “Gobes” E. Gobert, age 66, of Gladstone, passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, May 14th 2022 at U.P. Health Systems in Marquette surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Katherine (Sheedlo) and William Gobert. He was the oldest of two children. He attended all saints grade school and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1974. As a child, Gary spent many summers in Nahma with his grandparents Ed and Mary Sheedlo. He had many fond memories of the No. 5 train and helping his grandfather at the company American Playground. As a young man, Gary enjoyed working on cars, riding snowmobiles, 3 wheelers, and dirt bikes. Gary’s adventurous nature led him from Boy Scouts to many outdoor activities such as skiing. He was a member of the ski team, liked hunting with his father, and camping with friends. He also joined a skydiving team called the Random Flyers and made jumps from 1976-1985. Another and probably the most endearing love of his was motorcycle riding. He was a member of the A-Heads m/c for over 40 years. After graduation he worked at P&H until its closing. He then received his CDL license and was a OTR truck driver for over 30 years. Gary was a proud and active 3rd and 4th degree Knight of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed serving his church, the hungry, his community, and the homeless. Just last month Gary was standing in the cold early morning raising funds for the Special Olympics. Gary was the person with a huge heart and did the right thing even when no one was looking. He valued his family and his friendships above all and loved making memories. You knew he would protect his family and his friends, and even someone he did not know, if needed. He was one of a kind. If you met Gary and hadn’t known him long, you would never forget him. He had a way of making people laugh even if you didn’t feel like laughing. He definitely had a way with words. He is loved by many and will be missed dearly by many.

Gary is survived by his wife Diane (Trombley) Gobert of 45 years, son Nick (Maya) Gobert, daughter Tori Baker, brother Tim (Rhonda) Gobert, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Katherine Gobert and Father-in-law John K. Trombley.

Family will receive friends from 2:45 to 4:45 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:30 PM at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
