Frances “Tootie” Kee, 96, of Gladstone passed away Friday afternoon August 19, 2016 at 1024 North 18th Street in Escanaba, surrounded by her loving family.
Tootie was born March 30, 1920 in Gladstone, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Cooper) Balenger. She was raised in Gladstone and attended Gladstone Area Schools. On November 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to William “Jack” Kee. She was a past member of the Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Post 71. Tootie loved the casino and in her early years, spending time at her camp.

Tootie is survived by:
Brother-In-Law: Jim (Della) Kee of Rapid
Numerous nieces and nephews

Aside from Tootie’s parents and husband Jack, she was preceded in death by:
5 brothers: Isaac, Jim, Lowell, Harry, and Wally Balenger
2 Sisters: Marciel Schafer and Pearl Anderson

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 23 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Closing Prayers for Tootie will begin at 4:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Tootie will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

    Aunt Tootie was a wonderful person. Our family often went to their camp to visit when we we were growing up. I always remember the big collies they always had.
