Floyd William Krause, age 91, of Escanaba passed away Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Floyd was born July 6, 1920 in Ford River, Michigan, the son of William and Anna (Makosky) Krause. Floyd enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1943 and served his country proudly during World War II. He was united in marriage to Virginia Groleau on November 17, 1945 in Escanaba. Floyd was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was one of the twelve founding members of the St. Vincent dePaul Council, started in 1966. He remained an active volunteer for the St. Vincent dePaul Society for many years. He also worked as a welder for the Harnischfeger Corporation for 32 years. He loved the outdoors and was a lifelong lumberjack. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Virginia; five sons, Greg (Linda) of Mattawan, MI, Brian (Jean) of Midland, MI, Gerard of Houston, TX, Joel (Karlene) of Holland, MI and Kevin (Cheryl) of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter, Karen (Tim) Hughes of Bon Aqua, TN; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ed of California and David (Ann) of Punta Gorda, FL; two sisters, Sadie Olson of Ford River, MI and Linna DuPont of Ford River, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Margaret Wisbecky and two brothers, Emil and Oscar.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23 from from 2 to 4 at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba and a Vincentian Prayer Service will follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 24 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following services in the fellowship hall. Floyd will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Floyd’s name may be directed to the church.

    Uncle Floyd was a great family man. Even though he had a big clan of his own he always had time for the boat load of Trotter kids. I will always remember our time spent at camp. Goodbye Uncle Floyd. Heaven now has another angel.
