Florence E. Rivers, age 85, of 5884 Rivers 22nd Road; Gladstone, died Friday, February 29th, 2008, at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba following a lengthy illness.
Florence was born the youngest of 12 children August 10th, 1922 in Thompson, Michigan, the daughter of John and Barbara (Melcheck) Gasperich and was raised in the Kipling area of Gladstone. After her marriage to Charles L. Rivers, Sr. in 1948, she and her husband moved to their present location where they resided since. Charles died November 15th, 2001.

Florence was a very hardworking individual all her life, and was also known as being side-by side with her husband working in the woods for over 20 years. In addition, family and friends remember Florence as a very kind and generous person with a special fondness and affection for animals. Raising rabbits and chickens was a specialty of hers. Socializing with people was a joy for Florence and baking was another one of her areas of expertise. She was a long-time member of All Saints Church.

Florence E. Rivers survivors include:

1 Daughter-Nancy (Otto) Roggenbuck of Moran, MI

1 Son-Charles (Candace) Rivers of Gladstone

2 Brothers- Matt (Grace) Gasperich of Kipling, Rudy (Arlene) Gasperich of Chicago

3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Charles L. Rivers, Sr., Florence was preceded in death by three brothers; John, Joseph, and Louis Gasperich and by three sisters; Mary Trygg, Frances Coleman, and Anne Suljic.

The family of Florence Rivers will receive friends on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Services celebrating Florence

    Dear Aunt Florence,

    I grieve at your passing but also know that you are happy being reunited with Uncle Charles and the woods that you so dearly loved. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I will be with the family in spirit for your memorial service.
