Evelyn M. Syers, age 85, of Shingleton, passed away Saturday December 26, 2009 at the Tender Care Nursing Home, in Munising, where she had currently been residing.
Evelyn was born December 18, 1924, in Munising, the daughter of John and Mona (Ripley) Root. She was raised in Munising and attended and graduated from the Munising Mather High School. Evelyn was united in marriage to Leonard Syers in 1955. Together Evelyn and Leonard made their home, raised their family and spent the majority of their life together in Shingleton. Throughout her life Evelyn worked primarily as a homemaker. In addition, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, trivia and going to bingo. Leonard preceded Evelyn in death on November 11, 1990.

3 Sons: Peter (Kathy) Syers of Shingleton, MI; Cecil (Linda) Higby of Oregon City, OR; Gary (Traci) Syers of Groveland, FL
3 Daughters: Rachelle Drost of Milwaukee, WI; Linda Cook of Mt. Dora, FL; Paula Rashley of Tucson, AZ
1 Brother: Clayton (Marie) Root of Big Bay, MI
2 Sisters: Eva Rautanen of Marquette, MI; Audrey Massey of Marquette, MI
Also listed among the surviving family are 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
