Elvin Peter Gobis “AL”, age 75, of 43 Tipperary Road, Gladstone, died Wednesday morning February 7, 2007 at the Bishop Noa Home located in Escanaba.
Al was born April 29, 1931, in Racine, WI, the son of Peter and Katherine (Samson) Gobis. He was raised in Racine and attended and graduated from the Racine school system. Al served in the United States Army as a medic with the U.S. Army Artillery Unit during the Korean War conflict. Al went on, following his enlistment, taking college courses in engineering, graduating with two associate degrees specializing in the engineering field. Also before his enlistment in the Army, Al worked for CASE Manufacturing eventually attaining a permanent position in the engineering department upon completion of his engineering degree. Al worked for CASE for the majority of his life, retiring at the age of 58. Al loved to work and in his spare time he labored as a longshoreman at the docks in Racine. He enjoyed walking, reading, traveling and spending time with his loving wife Pauline. In addition, Al enjoyed collecting various items such as, guns, musical instruments and antique tea pots. Al is remembered for being a very considerate, hard working man and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Step Daughter: Dr. Linda Bisson of Gladstone, WI
6 Grandchildren: Peter, Anjel, Matthew, Kim, Becky and Natasha
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine Gobis
Family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00PM to 5:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Elvin Peter Gobis will follow visitation, at 5:00PM, a the Skradski Funeral Home, with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Committal will be held in Racine, WI at the convenience of the Gobis family. The Skradski Funeral Homes of Delta County are in care of all arrangements.

My Dad was born and raised in Escanaba Mich,Gladstone was his stomping ground when he was a teanager.
