Elsie Faye Gereau, age 96, of Escanaba passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Marquette General Hospital surrounded by her children.

Elsie was born February 16, 1919 in Gladstone, the daughter of Elizabeth and Frank Oathoudt. On November 23, 1935 she was united in marriage to Wallace G Gereau in Chicago, Illinois. They resided and raised their family in Kipling. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother and was loved by all who crossed paths with her. Elsie was fortunate to live and travel in Europe for two years as a result of her husbands work. She was an avid gardner and stellar cook and baker. She also loved taking the bus to the Casino with her friends and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Barry (Gloria) Gereau of Rapid River, Wallace (Diane) Gereau of Greenfield, WI, Frank (Mary) Gereau of Norway, MI and David (Judith) Gereau of Escanaba; her daughter, Carol Steinhoff of Rapid River; 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her infant son, Daniel, her son, Guy, and her daughter, Loma C. (Carlson) Gereau

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. Elsie will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Delta Animal Shelter.

    Aunt Elsie, I enjoyed visiting you every time I came to visit with my Grandma Lola Schafer in Nahma, Michigan. You were always excited when I showed up, especially when I had my daughter, Paula Kay.
