Ellen Marie Carlson

Ellen Marie Carlson, age 98, of Cornell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba.

Ellen was born April 14, 1923, in Ensign, MI, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Martins) Porsman. On May 9, 1944, Ellen was united in marriage to Frank Carlson and together they shared many wonderful memories. Ellen and Frank lived in Cornell for most of their lives.

Ellen was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Ellen loved to garden, especially flowers. She also loved to bake, and would make all her children their favorite kind of cake for each birthday. She was also known for her delicious rum cakes and tortes.

Ellen is survived by her children Gary (Linda) Carlson, Dennis Carlson, Linda (Lee) Carlson, Raymond (Mary) Carlson, Wendell (Kristen) Carlson, Luanne (Steve) Glovacki, grandchildren Stephanie, Dan, Jeremy, Clint, Kevin, Jeff, Keith, Eric, Adam, Jason, Sean, Brandon, Brittyni, Nick, Alex, and Amanda, and 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, spouse Frank Carlson, brother Oliver Broman, sisters Mildred Le Houillier, Lynea Young, and Cecelia Carlson.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00PM at Central United Methodist Church. Funeral services honoring Ellen will follow visitation at church with Pastor Elise Edwardsen officiating. Ellen will be laid to rest in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
