Died March 25, 2007

Edward C. Lynch, age 83, of 6424 North 5th Street, Wells, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 25, 2007.
Ed was born October 1, 1923, in Rapid River, the son of Chester and Alice (Dumas) Lynch.

He was raised in Gladstone and attended the All Saints Catholic Schools until the eighth grade before continuing his education and graduating from the Gladstone Area Public High School. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the WWII era until his honorable discharge on January 26, 1946. On May 17, 1947, Ed was joined in marriage to the former Caroline Hurkmans at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba and together the couple eventually made their home and raised their family at their current residence in Wells. Ed and Caroline have resided in Wells for the past fifty six years and have enjoyed sixty wonderful years of marriage together. Throughout the years, Ed was employed for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and retired in 1980 after thirty five years of employment. Ed was a member of the St. Anthony Church in Wells and the local Escanaba AmVets. He volunteered at the Community Action Agency for over 20 years and enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting, spending time with his family and grandchildren, going to camp and in his earlier years, fishing. He will be deeply missed.

I will always remember how much Ed enjoyed family. Both he and Caroline were so devoted to their children and grandchilren. It was obvious that Ed was a happy man when family was around. But, he seemed to enjoy himself no matter where he was or what he was doing. He had a wonderful laugh, which I will miss.
