Edward J. Guindon 91 of 530 South 14th Street died on Friday July 23,2004 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family.
Edward was born March 1,1913 in Schaffer, the son of Leo and Mary (Constantineau) Guindon and was a life long resident of this area. He was married to the former Helen S. VanLister June 3,1947 and she preceded him in death January 23,1993. Mr Guindon had received his Teaching Certificate form the Delta County Normal College and received his Bachlor of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University. He was a primary school teacher with the Escanaba School System from 1935 until his retirement in 1978.
He was known as “Mr. 6th Grade” with his last year of teaching being at the Franklin School.
Mr Guindon had been a member of the MEA of Retired School Personal and a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church.
The only break from teaching came when he served with the U.S.Army Air Corp. during WWII.
He leaves to survive:

1 daughter: Janet Besaw of Escanaba
2 sisters: Elaine Lantagne of Schaffer, MI, Blanche (Andy) Susina of Glenview, Illinois
2 sister-in-laws: Agnes Guindon of Riverside, California, Katherine Guindon of Blue Island, Illinois
4 grandchildren: Debbie (Tyrone) Sagataw of Escanaba, Diane Besaw of Escanaba, Amy and Melanie Guindon of LaVerne, California, “Special Grandson”: Nathaniel Erickson of Escanaba
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years Helen; an infant son Wayne and 6 brothers: Gilbert, Philip, Ernest, Henry, Lenas, and Louis Guindon.
The family of Edward Guindon will recieve friends on Tuesday, July 27th from 2:00 to 4:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Guindon will follow at 5:00 PM at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish with Fr. Richard Schaffer officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A Lunch will follow the service in the chuch hall.
The Skradski Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Guindon Family.
