Earl J. Groleau, age 77, of Escanaba passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
Earl was born April 19, 1943 in Escanaba, the son of Emil and Eldora (Larson) Groleau. He attended Rapid River High School, where he was a talented Track and Field athlete, and graduated in 1961. On April 4, 1970 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Coon of Escanaba. He worked as an electrician with M& J Electric for many years, was a member of the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish, the Escanaba Elks Lodge 354, an avid Detroit sports fan and enjoyed going to camp and spending time with his family.
Earl is survived by his wife, Mary of Escanaba; children, Scott Groleau of Byron Center, MI, Chanin Groleau of Escanaba and Bryce (Cindy) Groleau of Escanaba; grandchildren, TJ and Patrick Nault and Brayden, Kaleb and Addison Groleau; sister, Barb (Dennis) Parrott of Ensign; sister-in-laws, Nancy Bast and Zhibin Coon; brother-in-laws, Dennis and Marvin (Kathy) Coon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Eldora Groleau twin grandsons, Scott and James, mother and father -in-law, Lucille and James Coon and brother-in-laws, James and Patrick Coon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 4 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba with Fr. Timothy Ferguson officiating. Earl will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Masks and social distancing are required at church and due to Covid restrictions nor formal visitation will take place before or after Mass.
