Dusten Anthony Berube, age 19, passed away Friday afternoon, September 6, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital, in Escanaba, due to complications of Cystic Fibrosis.

Dusten was born on August 2, 2000, in Escanaba, the son of Charles and Samantha (Meyette) Berube. He was raised in Escanaba and was a graduate of Escanaba Senior High School.

For a young man, Dusten was an accomplished outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting whitetail deer, bear, wild boar, small game, and was fortunate to have harvested a wild buffalo last October. Additionally, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards and board games, and spending time with his family, friends and his dog “Buck”. Like most U.P. teenagers, Dusten also loved to ride his four-wheeler, drive his pickup truck, and recently, he enjoyed driving his 2014 Hemi Shaker sports car.

Dusten was a member of the County Line 4-HClub. He had the honors of having the 2019 Reserve Champion Hog at the Upper Peninsula State Fair.

Dusten is survived by his parents, Charlie and Samantha:
Sisters: Alexis (Ryan) Hughes and Sasha Berube
Niece and Nephew: Jaelyn and Clayton Hughes
Maternal Grandparents: David (Terri) Meyette
Paternal Grandparents: John (Leona) Berube
Godfather: Joe (Sue) Berube
Also surviving are additional family and friends.

Dusten was preceded in death by his Sister Laela, his Uncle Tony Meyette and his Great Grandparents, Walter (Rosemarie)Solis, Albert Meyette, Joseph (Joyce) Berube and David Sorg.

Dusten’s family will receive friends on Wednesday September 11, 2019, from 2:00PM to 5:00PM, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow visiting hours on Wednesday, at 5:00PM, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba, with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Holy Family Church Parish Hall in Flat Rock. Dusten will be laid to rest in the Escanaba Township Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    I was so saddened to hear about Dusten. He sure was a trooper when Carol Prins and I had him in Preschool. He was one special little boy. Sending hugs to you all.
