Doris Johnson

Resided in Rock, MI
Died April 8, 2008

Doris Joyce Johnson, age 82, of Gladstone (formerly of Rock) was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday morning April 8, 2008 while at her home in the Lakeview Assisted Living Center.
Doris was born October 12, 1925 on the family farm in Rock, the daughter of Albert and Stella (Johnson) Norden. She was raised in Rock and she was a 1943 graduate of the Rock High School.

Doris was united in marriage to Onni Johnson on June 23, 1945 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins. They made their home in Rock where they raised their 5 children.

Doris was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock, and WELCA. Doris enjoyed being on the bowling team in Rock for many years. She loved being with family and friends and would never miss an opportunity to visit. She also loved to travel and spent four winters in Guam (where she parasailed at 80 years old!). Aunt Doris was a very special lady. Her gracious manner and warm smile always made everyone feel so welcome at her home. She will be missed by all of us who lucky enough to know her.

She was a great mom–and I consider myself blessed to have had her as my mother! I’m currently at the airport in Osaka, Japan en route home to the U.P. for her funeral. I have time before my flight out and so thought I’d check the obituary on-line–the internet is great! I look forward to being with my family and the Rock community soon.
