Donald J. Plourde, age 88, of Cornell passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Lakeview Assisted Living Memory Care Center in Gladstone.
Donald was born November 12, 1932 in Escanaba, the son of Joseph and Leola (Dalveck) Plourde. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Boyer on June 13, 1953. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a welder with the Harnischfeger Corporation for many years. Following retirement Donald continued working, with his brother at Norman Plourde Forest Products. Donald was a member of the Cornell Lions Club, enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. Don used his woodworking skills to make yard swings and Gazebos, using the cedar from the family sawmill. Donald was always happy to help his neighbors using his welding skills for repairs to farming equipment.
Donald is survived by his children, Donald Plourde of Gladstone, Bruce (Lynn) Plourde of Cornell, Lynn (David) Carignan of Little Suamico, WI, Cindy LaBombarb of Cornell and Laurie (Phillip) Reynolds of Cornell; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter; sister, Charolette (Rodney) Rousseau of Soo Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, his parents, brothers, Norman and Gerald, sister, Laurel (Matt) Malnor and son-in-law, Roger LaBombarb.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 13 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 12:45 PM by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Memorial services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Lewis Hague officiating. Donald will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
