Dennis “Butch” Aicher

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died January 15, 2025

Not known for his sense of urgency or his lighting fast speed, Dennis L “Butch” Aicher, approached his death in much the same way; He was going to get there when he was good and ready. Perhaps he was simply enjoying the final weeks being doted on by wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Young) and daughter Kathi (Paul) Bosilovatz.
Apparently he felt that January 15, 2025 was the time.

A lifelong resident of Gladstone and a proud Yooper, Dennis graduated from Gladstone High School in 1959 and married Marilyn in March, 1962. He served in the US Air Force as an Electronics Technician and was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. After his service they returned to life in Gladstone, raising Mike, Kathi, Terry,
and Chris (Lynda) while Dennis worked for the City of Gladstone as a lineman then a wastewater treatment plant operator before taking a similar position with the Federal Government back at K.I. Sawyer until retirement. Butch was often crossing off things from the Honey Do list or enjoying a concert in the park.

Dennis will once again see his parents Clarence and Mae as well as this siblings who have gone before him. He was preceded in death by Son Michael. He leaves behind grandchildren Sara (Mike) Finnigan of DeKalb, IL, Steven (Camille) Bosilovatz of Prairie Village, KS, Nicholas (Miyu) Aicher of Chicago, Samuel Aicher of Nagano, Japan, Anna Aicher of Elgin, IL, Emily Aicher of LaFayette, IN, Noah and Sydney of Tigard OR.

There will be a celebration of his life at The Deli Restaurant in Gladstone on Sunday, January 26th from 1-3 pm

The Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone is assisting the family.

17 Tributes for “Dennis “Butch” Aicher

Condolences to Aunt Marilyn and cousins Chris, Terry, and Kathi. Uncle Butch has left us, but we will forever have our memories. Being selfish, I choose to keep only those times that still bring smiles to my face. Butch would often introduce me to others with “this is my big brother Jeff!” Those others would ask me “which Aicher are you?” Butch would laugh at the puzzled looks his little game would get.

A Good memories: In first and second grade, Denny and Donald Disotell and I always walked to school together down the alley between Dakota and Michigan Avenue. On the way home we’d go thru all the garbage cans and occasionally find some great treasurers! One time in second grade, Denny and I were sent to the cloak room in back of the class for a punishment time out – didn’t bother us too much. Maybe that was the time we tied hangman nooses on the window curtain string pulls. Then there was the snow forts and snowball fights. 🙂
It’s hard to say goodby to friends, but just maybe Denny and Donald will have scoped out some good alleys in the hereafter to show me when I get there. hope so.

To my Aunt Marilyn Ii, and my cousins.
I send my deepest sympathies and am so very sorry.
Uncle Butch was always so fun and sweet to his little niece. He was always the laughing uncle, right along with Aunt Marilyn.
My Mom always had a special spot in her heart for her little brother.
    God Bless Uncle Butch.
I am in Arizona, but my thoughts are prayers are with you. I send you much love.

Our Condolences to the Aicher family, from Steve , Susie and Josh Pyke.

Uncle Butch was always friendly and cheerful.
He always had time to talk ,laugh,
Talk about family , and catch up on past times.
    Gone but never forgotten.
Love You Uncle , Rest in Peace

Sorry for your loss Marilyn. Butch was a great neighbor always willing to lend me a tool and a hand. He always had a big smile on his face and a great sense of humor. He was so relieved when I took down that darn yard light that would shine in his bedroom.

Oh Butchie Honey as Marilyn called you ,sorry to see you go,sorry so sorry especially for my best friend Marilyn and the ‘kids’. We have been best friends since 1959,and I treasure every minute we shared! Well , maybe not so much , the night you were drag racing with a friend, with me and Mar in the back seat, that is a night we all remember!
You were a great husband to my sweet friend! She took the best care she could have you , until Kathy and the home health girls took over! They are angels ! Kathy was an amazing help in you care, my heartfelt thanks to her, her mom said she couldn’t have made it with out her !
Big shout out to Home Health , Rachel, who came here to met and help Marilyn out! A

Nice obit, Kathi! Uncle Butch always made me smile, and so did this write-up, so job well done.
I wish I could join you for the gathering at the Deli, but you know that my heart is with you. It’s nice to see your other cousins propping you up with love.
I’ll see you again when it’s my time to join the after-party, Uncle Butch!

I’m so sorry for your loss Marilyn. You and Butch were the kindest neighbors in our first home and that has left a lasting impression on Dan and I. We are so thankful to have met you both. Sending you all of our love.

In a conversation with Uncle Butch, years ago, I was lamenting all the variation to my surname. Butch told me that Aicher has been a victim of letter changes primarily by census workers that either couldn’t hear or couldn’t spell. Aicher was changed to Archer, Richer, and a few others. I was always proud to be mistaken for Butch’s brother.

    So sorry for your loss
Always enjoyed Butch when I saw him.
We Burcar girls spent a lot of time at the Aichers
Trading comic books and just hanging out
He left lots of good memories

So sorry for your loss Marilyn, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I know I didn’t see you and Butch very much through the years but I always cherished our friendship. Butch will be greatly missed by so many
. Take care of yourself my friend.
