Deborah “Debbie” Lynne Herrmann, age 66, of Gladstone, passed away Wednesday evening, August 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.Debbie was born in Grand Rapids on November 23, 1949, the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Wilcox) Shay. She was raised in California and graduated from Palmdale High School in 1969. Debbie was a member of the Rapid River American Legion Auxiliary Post #301 and held the position of Sergeant at Arms. She enjoyed helping out at the Legion breakfasts, she liked to spend time on the computer, watch television, and go to the movies. She also loved spending time with her family, friends, and special dog, Koda.
Debbie is survived by:
Daughters: Deborah (Scott) Williams of Menominee, Jennifer (Charles) Minor of Gladstone, and Juliet “Julie” (Richard) Nickell of Escanaba.
Brothers: Michael Shay of Nevada, and Kevin Shay of New Jersey.
Brother-In-Law: Tom Herrmann
Sister-In-Law: Joyce Cartwright
Adopted Daughters: Amanda Riggers, Jennifer Johnson, Amanda Spriks, and Connie Veeser.
Grandchildren: Jesse Myers, David Scheeringa, Mackenzie, Devon Disorbo, Joshua Marr, Austin Herrmann, Hunter Nickell, David Johnson, Bailey, and Michael Riggers.
Life long friends: Kathy Bebawi, Hope Deneau, and Ellie Nickell
Several Nieces and Nephews

Aside from her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her husband Michael Herrmann, and her daughter Colleen Herrmann.

Debbie’s family will receive friends on Friday August 12, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:45 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Rapid River American Legion Auxiliary Post #301 services will follow at 3:45 P.M. Funeral services celebrating the life of Debbie Herrmann will follow at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. William Rafuse of the Rapid River Congregational Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Rapid River American Legion in Rapid River. Debbie’s family requests that you bring a dish to pass for the luncheon. Debbie will be laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Baycliff in memory of Colleen Herrmann, or Delta County Cancer Alliance.
