To the family of Dayton Dahn,

My name is Jaylene and I’m a registered nurse at St.Francis hospital. I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. I will never forget Dayton. He was one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. He always made me smile. I had the great pleasure of getting to know him and care for him. Even in that short amount of time, I could see what a special man he was, to his family and anyone who met him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time of grief.

I consider being a friend of Daytons a wonderful experience. I have been around Gladstone most of my life and even when I moved away I was always welcome at the farm. Greg,Jody,Shell and Johna have all been great friends to me and I beleive that is because your dad raised you to be good honest people. I loved having coffee and playing cards telling stories with Pa even if Greg was not home I would sit and enjoy his company just as well.He always teased me and the guys when we would do our annual rabbit hunt. Dayton suspected we were just going to camp to party. He was so convinced that he offered to clean and cook all the game we brought home that night. To his suprise we returned with 16 rabbits that day. It was the best Stew I ever had. I could tell stories like this about Dayton all day long. I loved and will miss him dearly.

My name is Julie and I work in Physical Therapy at St Francis Hospital. I especially will remember Dayton by how much he loved his family. I remember how his face lit up when the little grandchildren came to visit him one day. He had a hug and kiss for each of them. He talked so dearly about all of his family…that really shows what a great person he was! I am sorry for your loss and I’ll keep you all in my prayers.

I remember a lot of great times spent with your family. (sleepovers when we were kids) Dayton always welcomed me with a big heart. My thoughts of him will be treasured as one of my great childhood memories. God bless your family,

I have known Dayton since 1992 when his daughter Jody, my bestfriend would bring me to Michigan and I would visit with him and the family. My favorite memories are sitting around his kitchen table dying Easter eggs, talking and laughing with him and his family and eating fried macaroni. Getting to know Dayton over the years, I grew to appreciate his warm and kind ways. He was a special man and also silly at times. He made me laugh! I adored the way he treated his children and grandchildren. He welcomed me into his home and treated me like one of his daughters.

Those memories will live on forever and stay warm in my heart.

Dayton and Barb were the first couple we met when we moved from St. Ignace to the 25th rd. What a beautiful friend they turned out to be. We enjoyed so many get togethers at their house where we played cards and ate popcorn til i thought we would bust. The coffee pot was always on. You were always welcome at Daytons. Things changed throughout the years but our friendship never changed. He will certainly be missed by a lot of people. I can only imagine him and Pete having good conversation in Heaven and even having a good old card game. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take care

Jody, Shelly, Joanna, Sue and Greg,

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Such a caring and wonderful man. I have so many fond memories of your family. In the summertime your home was my second home, from kick the can and sleepovers to choke cherry trees, whipperwills and licorice string. Yes, this was the place to be. My greatest memory though is the incredible amount of LOVE and LAUGHTER you all shared and how your parents always made me feel welcome and loved……..Hold on to each other and the beautiful memories and remember your father will be with you always for he is a part of you.
