Dawn Marie Jones, age 68, of Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her home in Escanaba.

Dawn was born on August 15, 1954, in Lansing, the daughter of Donald James Bunch and Verna (Carley) Brandt-Miller. Dawn moved to the Upper Peninsula as a child and was a graduate of Escanaba High School. She went on to earn an Associates Degree in Social Science from Bay de Noc Community College. Dawn was most known for her love of the outdoors. From fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking she loved it all. She also enjoyed the fall colors and hunting with Wheeling Sportsmen. Dawn loved her family, but she also loved everyone else. She was an extremely generous woman and was willing to help anybody in need. She contributed often to her church and the Wheeling Sportsmen program. For the past 10 years or so Dawn had a free table outside her house. She would gather up anything that could be used again and had it set up as a free rummage sale for the community. She helped countless people in need. Dawn also was a gifted singer and was known for her renditions of Amazing Grace and O Holy Night. She also loved to dance. Dawn was a devoted member of The Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Escanaba. She did many things with her church family and also attended several mission trips. Dawn was also a talented baker and made up to 50 Christmas trays a year for her family and friends. She will be truly missed by so many.

Dawn is survived by her mother, Verna, son Jereme Jones, daughter Jenifer (Michael) Corwin, step-daughter Diana Nelson, adopted daughter Ramona (Dan) Barron, brother Donald (Nancy) Bunch, sister Opal (Mike) Hoffmann, grandchildren Jereme and William Jones, Gage Sischo and Johannes Simmons, Elizabeth and Sara-Lily Barron, Melissa Bertolini, and Laura Moran, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father Donald Bunch Sr., brother Dale Bunch, grandparents Opal and Fred Carley, and father-in-law Warren “Pops” Jones.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Funeral services honoring Dawn will follow at 3:30 PM with Pastor Ann Slayer officiating. A luncheon will follow services at New Life Church in Escanaba. Memorial contributions made in Dawn’s name may be directed to Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene or to the Wheeling Sportsmen program. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Jones family.

    . I am glad that we got a chance to catch up a little when we saw each other in walmart a while ago! Rest in Peace Dawn ..You have earned your Angel wings, fly high, and sing in the Angels choir.

    Dawn was truly a selfless woman. I worked with Dawn at the Recycling Center for Lakestate Industries. Many conversations while working, filling out paperwork and offering her a ride home. My mom and her went to high-school together.
    One of my favorite memories is her singing O Holy Night each year at our Christmas party. To help remind us of the reason for the season.

    Dawn was willing to help anyone in need. I worked with Dawn at lakestates. I know she loved the Lord and her church family which she was very active with. The last time we had a chance to catch was over a year ago when her church put on a concert for the community at the Escanaba park. I’m so sorry for her family and friends loss. She will really be missed. God bless.

    Dawn was an awesome soul. Had many good memories with her. She will be sadly missed by so many. Soar high with the Angels my friend, until we meet again.

    Dawn was a wonderful lady. I saw her at Walmart a few weeks ago. She was a bubbly lady. I will miss her.

    Dawn was a true friend who honored us by singing at our wedding. We graduated from the same class and caught up at class reunions. Peace and condolences to your family.

    I attended Esky and graduated along with Dawn. I remember her beautiful, strong voice as we were in choir under Conrad Beck.

    My heart broke when I heard the news. I adored this lovely lady so much! She made me realize just how much life on this planet meant to her. She made me want to go back in time and appreciate everything we had back then. I loved this lady. Always will. Best neighbor, best friend. She taught me to appreciate what was given to us.     Dawn was a wonderful lady! We had so much fun when we were in Chorale in high school – she had such a beautiful voice!
    She will be missed by so many but she can now sing with the angels!
