Dave was married to my grandmother for many years and my sister and I would visit them often in the summertime and also during school breaks. He was always kind to me and would get us to smile by saying silly phrases like “I’ll hang ya by your toes.” After he and my grandma divorced, I lost contact with him. I am grateful that I was able to get in touch with him many years later while preparing for my wedding. Later, we were able to meet each other while I was pregnant with my daughter. It was a nice visit and we were able catch up. I cherish that little time we had. He was a gentle spirit who made me feel loved and I will never forget that. I will miss you grandpa. My thoughts and prayers are with all those he has impacted, especially the family.

My association with Dave was business. I bought a lot of knives from him. The knives, like the man, were made of good stuff with a high quality finish. Rest in peace Dave!

David was with us for a short time this Fall, at Delta County Adult Education in Wells. He wanted to get his GED. His ill health unfortunately interrupted this goal. The last time I spoke to him he was hoping to make it back to classes. We are saddened to hear of his passing, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

I only met Dave once, back in 2007, while attending an event at Bark River Knife & Tool.
He was a man one doesn’t easily forget, nor should he be.
    Rest in Peace, Dave.
