David M. Tianen, age 90, of Wells passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Lakeview Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Gladstone.

David was born October 5, 1930 in Osceola, Michigan, the son of Onni and Anna (Olson) Tianen. He graduated from the Cass Technical High School in Detroit. He continued his education at the Walsh Institute of Accounting and Wayne State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1951 to 1954, with a tour of duty in Korea from 1953 to 1954 with the 187th Airborne Regiment. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Parachute Wings. David worked as an accountant with the Wayne County Road Commission from 1955 to 1965. He was united in marriage to Darlene Cole on July 23, 1966 in Calumet, MI and was the owner and operator of the Bon Ton Restaurant and Bar in Laurium, MI. In 1969 he moved to Wells and went to work for the Mead Paper Company until he retired in 1995. David was a long time member at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and the Wells and Cornell Lions Club, serving as Past-President for both clubs.

David is survived by his son, David (Jodi) Tianen of Rapid River; grandchildren, Jordan, Cole and Madison and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, his parents, sisters, Doris and Audry and brothers, Robert and Carl.

Private services will be held at the request of the family. David will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

    This is a sad day, indeed, that our friend , Dave, has passed on to be with his Lord and Savior. Sad, for us, but we need to celebrate his life and his new life with God. Sympathies to Jody and family. He will be solely missed.

    So sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. I sure loved visiting with him and chatting about Finland and our Finnish heritage. Condolences to his family.

    I work at Lake view assisted living in the memory care. Dave was such a sweet guy. Loved talking with him. So sorry for your loss. Sending lots of prayers for your family.

    Mel was a close friend of mine while we both were members of the Apostolic Lutheran Church of Detroit and Southfield MI..He has won the Ultimate Victory to be with the Lord..1Cor15….Lord Jesus give those in mourning strength and comfort.
