Darrell M. Tatrow, age 63, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

Darrell was born November 10, 1957, in Escanaba, the son of Gerald and Patricia (Pelletier) Tatrow. Darrell was a 1978 graduate of Big Bay De Noc High School. Darrell was faced with many challenges in his life but had a huge impact on all who knew him and was a blessing to those who loved him.

He loved to say how much he “hated” the Packers and was always up for a bet against them. Darrell loved talking to friends and family on the telephone and had an uncanny talent of memorizing phone numbers. He also was a “famous” member of the Wheeling Sportsman organization, winning several trophies, appearing in a video documenting the program, and being named the “2019 Wheeling Sportsman Hunter of the Year”.

Darrell is survived by his brother Jeff (Sindy DeVolder) Tatrow of Garden, sisters Kathy Tatrow of Battle Creek, Debbie Crossman of Honor, Peggy (Steve) Minor of Garden, Linda (Jack) Ansell of Fayette, and Amy (Joe) Reinhardt of Escanaba. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends and his second family at St. Jude’s Assisted Living home where he resided for many years.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Patricia.

Darrell will truly be missed by many. Everyone who knew him has memories of him they will never forget. Darrell’s family would like to thank all of the staff and residents of St. Jude’s Assisted Living Home for making Darrell part of their family and taking such good care of him.

8 Tributes for “Darrell M. Tatrow

I shared many a cup of coffee with Darrell over the years. I’ll never forget the day we were in the coffee shop and Darrell noticed I was driving a pickup truck. He had to move out of his apartment that same day and had nobody to help him. So they we were, after finishing our coffee, the two of us, moving Darrell into his new digs. How could I refuse this kindly soul? Ha ha!

I thought of Darrell many times since then. He tended to leave a lasting impression. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember Darrell as a cheerful person always up for a joke and teasing. Very strongminded and determined throughout his life, he loved his family and making new friends. He will be missed.

I got to know Darrell driving DATA bus to Lakestate Industries. We had a great time ribbing each other about our different football teams, but found common ground in our love for the Tigers. I will miss you, Buddy! RIP.

I am so sorry for your loss of Darrell. He is going to be missed so much. He and I bonded over a love for the Detroit Tigers. He and I would talk when I got to work or we would watch a game. He was such a loving soul. He loved all of you so much.

Transporting Darrell while employed by Delta Area Transit Authority (DATA), was special.
Darrell was very straight forward and told it like is. As well, he had a great dry sense of humor
that made his presence a pleasure to be around.

Prayers to family and his friends at St Judes.

Darrell was a kind soul. Lots of great memories of Darrell, especially in Garden. He was always cutting someone’s grass. He always had time for conversation. RIP Darrell. You will be missed.

My sister lives at St.Judes and I visit her frequently! I always looked forward to seeing Darrel when I go there as I am a Packer fan and he would always go out of his way to find me and tell me what he thinks of the Packers! I really enjoyed listening to him vent and we would tease back and forth! Great guy, I will miss him!!

My sympathy to you Peggy & Steve, and all of the families Darrell was related to. Can’t stop there as he had many friends also, sorry.
