Daniel “Louie” Roy Thorsen, age 71, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home.

Daniel was born on June 10, 1949 in Escanaba, MI, the son of Robert and Wilma (Bloom) Thorsen.

Daniel was an avid Detroit Lions and Escanaba Eskymos fan. He
was a member of the Wells Lions Club,
and proudly served in Vietnam with the Navy President of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Escanaba in the 1980’s. Daniel was a member of the
Vietnam Veterans of America UP Central Chapter 345. He also worked with Escanaba Area schools for many years.

Daniel is survived by:
Son: David (Jessica) Thorsen of Escanaba, MI
Daughter: Kimberly Thorsen of Escanaba, MI
2 Granddaughters: Hailey and Madison
Brother-in-Law: Michael (Anita) St. Ours of Appleton, WI
And several Nieces and Nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by:
Parents: Robert Thorsen, Wilma (Bloom) Thorsen
Wife: Janet (St. Ours) Thorsen
Brother: Leslie

The family wants to give a special thanks to North Woods Home Care and Hospice

Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. A memorial service will follow visiting hours at 5:00 PM with Pastor Aaron Anderson officiating. The burial will be in Summer. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Thorsen family.

    David, Kimberly, and family! My deepest sympathies to you! Your father was a special man! His kind spirit reminded me so much of your Grandma and Grandpa Thorsen. (Your grandpa was a first cousin to my grandma-Anna Olsen Mattson). Praying that the peace and comfort of Jesus would rest upon you in your loss! God bless!

    My uncle was a wonderful man and always quick to crack a joke and put a smile on everyone’s faces. He will be missed.

    My boss, my friend, my brother in Christ Jesus. Dan you will be missed and were missed already. You touched the hearts of many people, people your family may never know. May God bring your family peace and comfort in the days ahead.

    Praying for God’s love and shepherding as you grieve losing Dan. It’s going to be a great reunion when we all meet on the other side!

    Our deepest condolences Kimmy, David and family. Sure going to miss our chats “ole boy”, you’ve been an awesome brother in law and a great husband to my sister. Rest well and in peace and I know you’re with the rest of the clan.
