Daniel J. Boyle, age 83, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2021, at DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
Dan was born November 2, 1937, in Escanaba. He is the son of John and Frances (Burkhart), Boyle.
Dan was a lifelong resident of Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba Senior High School in 1956. He attended Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, MI, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1959. After college, Dan joined the Army for two years and re-enlisted as an Army Reservist. He ended his military career in 1965. Dan was very proud of his time in the Service and spoke highly of it often to his kids and grandkids.
In 1961, Dan went to work with his dad in the furniture business: The Home Supply Co. in Escanaba. It was family-owned for over fifty years until its sale in the mid-90s.
Dan was a lively and animated sports fan, especially when it came to the Green Bay Packers. Not a Sunday during football season would go by without Dan taking up a position in front of a TV, as he closely analyzed and commented on the game pacing the floor. He would holler at the TV “THERE you go,” “Atta-a-Boy” or “Damn-it” often slamming his hand to the bar in favor of an excellent play or a Packer disappointment. Those who knew him will remember that well!
He also enjoyed card games such as cribbage and bridge. He even liked Sudoku. Dan was very proud of his Irish heritage.
To say Dan loved St. Patrick’s Day is an understatement. He and his wife Sharon, for many years, would spend that evening down at the Elks Club. Dan enjoyed drinking green beer and loudly singing Irish ditties from lyrics written on tattered photocopied booklets. There he was in all his glory, merrily and proudly standing next to the piano with his friends belting out his favorite tunes. Everyone will remember that big smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, and his best friend Jim Jacobs.
He survived by his wife, Sharon, and her sons, Jeff (Jean), Andy (Joyce), and Tom (Lisa) Willis, and brother, Mike (Lorraine), grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. And Dan’s other best Ed Bertrand.
The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Boyle family.

Patrick Gannon - Escanaba, Mi
Hello,
My Grandma Gannon’s maiden name was Julia Boyle, thus making me a cousin to Dan. I remember my father, John J. Gannon, holding both Dan and the Boyle family in high regard, and asking Dan to be my sponsor for Confirmation at St. Patrick’s Church years ago.
May you rest in peace, Dan. Thoughts and prayers go out to your family from ours.
N. Patrick Gannon
