Daniel Allen Duncan, age 70, of Escanaba passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.
Dan was born July 6, 1945 in Port Huron, Michigan, the son of Lester E.A. and Beatrice Marie (Wissell) Duncan. He was raised in Rapid River and graduated from the Rapid River High School. Following high school, Dan attended Tidewater Community College. From 1964 to 1968 Dan served in the United Sates Navy, where he earned the rank of Seaman 3rd Class. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he went to work for the Singer Sewing Machine Company as a repair technician. He was united in marriage to Joyce Virginia Gray on January 7, 1967 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Dan served as the Adjutant with the Walter W. Cole American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River, was a Past Commander of the Vietnam Veterans of America Escanaba Chapter 345, was a past member of the Local Model Railroad Club and was a member of the Gladstone Masonic Lodge #396 F&AM. He enjoyed woodwork, crafts, beadwork, leatherwork, watch Western movies, listening to Country music and Western ballads and was a Mountain Man Renactors.
Dan is survived by his wife, Joyce of Escanaba; his daughter, Tracy Joy (Jeff) Sawyer of Hayes, Virginia; three grandchildren, Amanda Marie Locke, Tiffany Lynn Sawyer and Jessicca Danielle Anderson; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, William and Micheal; three brothers, Lester E. (Patricia) Duncan of Cornell, Jerry (Ann) and Carl (Amanada) Rutterbush, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Hope Amanda (Roger) Deneau of Rapid River and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 3:00 PM by the Rapid River Walter W. Cole American Legion Post 301. Masonic Funeral Rites will be conducted, immediately following, by the Gladstone Masonic Lodge #396 F&AM. A luncheon will be served at the Congregational Church in Rapid River.
