Dale R. DeLisle, age 81, passed away on Thursday evening, September 11th, at St. Francis Hospital. Dale was born on December 14th, 1943, to Clarence and Elizabeth DeLisle. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1962.

He was united in marriage to Dolores (Nicholas) DeLisle on January 12, 1963. Dale was a much-loved postal clerk at the Gladstone Post Office from November 27th, 1965, to May 31, 2002. He also worked at his parents’ shoe store in Gladstone.

His children have fond memories of the address game they would play with Dale. He knew every address of every person who lived in Gladstone. Also, the advice he would give them to “never give up your fishing spot to anyone.”

Upon retiring, he worked summers at the Sand Point Lighthouse. He loved working with people. In his early years, he loved to hunt and fish. Later in life, he enjoyed the casino and playing the card game smear.

His three adorable great grandchildren, Noah DeLisle, Lexie and Sophie Gierahn. His sister and brother in-laws, Barbara and Roger Gabriel, Bob and Candy Nicholas, and Caren Nicholas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Betty and Bob Nicholas, and brother-in-law Brian Nicholas.

Dale will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery. A life celebration reception for friends and family will be held at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village Community Center on Saturday, September 27th, beginning at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
