Catherine L. Foster, age 90, of Escanaba passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba with family by her side.
Catherine was born May 7, 1924 in Nahma, the daughter of John and Pearl (Hall) Green. She was united in marriage to John (Jack) Foster on September 20, 1947. Catherine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Escanaba. She sang in the church choir for many years and played in the church dart ball league. Together Catherine and Jack built their business Foster Electronics Inc. where she kept track of the bookkeeping until retiring. She was a member of the Delta County Historical Society and the General Federation of Women

Dear Ann, Kris and Ellen, Your Mom was a wonderful, gracious, tolerant lady. I mention tolerant because I have such fun memories of things we did at your house that she certainly tolerated!! Things like us practicing tap dancing down in the basement, making beeswax candles in the kitchen, practicing Alvin and the Chipmunks for the church Christmas program, Yikes she tolerated us Ann!! Both Catherine and Jack were gentle and generous people. I remember them for their great love for family, friends, and Church. Both had a very strong faith. Their warmth welcomed everyone. They loved people which I experienced working with them, the care they took for family gatherings, 4th of July celebrations, birthdays, etc. I remember Catherine as making sure family birthdays were celebrated including those out of town. I was so sorry to learn of Catherine’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady. I got to know her when we sat together in the choir. I liked her immediately and got to know her better as time went on. She was so special. And, even though I haven’t seen her since we left Esky (11 years ago), I always looked forward to her annual Christmas cards. I will forever remember her sweet smile. The entire family has my heartfelt sympathy and prayers. But we know she dwells in her Eternal Home with her wonderful husband now. God’s blessings to all of you.

As she is laid to rest I am holding many memories of Aunt Cutch from the care packages of baked goods she would send my family out West to the way that she opened her home in Escanaba every fourth of July to serve as a family gathering point and staging area for the fireworks show– if we didn’t start in on the fireworks even earlier in her driveway! My thoughts are with the family and friends who are gathered to remember her today.
