Carole E. Cole, age 92, of 8157 N.7 Lane, Gladstone, MI passed away Thursday morning December 11, 2014 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba following a brief illness.

Carole was born April 13, 1922 in Daggett, MI the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Horn) Johnson. She was raised in Daggett and Menominee before moving to Escanaba where she was a 1940 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation she worked at Mead Paper Company before attending Business College in Wisconsin. During WW II she moved to Monterey, CA where she worked at the Monterey Hospital.

Carole was united in marriage to Jerome Cole on October 26, 1946. They made their home in Escanaba and later moved to Oshkosh WI and then to Freeport IL. They returned to Escanaba in 1957. Carole started working for St. Francis Hospital in 1960 until her retirement in 1987 where she worked in Payroll and Nurses Services.

Carole was very active, she enjoyed snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. She was also an excellent swimmer, diver and bowler. She scored many 300 games in bowling. Carole loved canoeing and canoed the Escanaba River almost every day in the summer months.

Carol was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock and she treasured her many trips with her siblings and close friends.

    My sincere sympaythy to all of the Cole family. You have lost a wonderful Mom and I will cherish all of the childhood memories we shared. She was very special and I know you will miss her so.
