Gladstone, MI
Carol Meryl (Hoverman) Gorenchan, age 66, of Gladstone, passed peacefully February 13, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI.
Carol was born December 17, 1945 to Merl and Lavina Hoverman in Pontiac, MI. She grew up in Gladstone, MI and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1964. She married Gerald “Mike” Gorenchan on October 30, 1966. They made their home and raised their family in Gladstone. Carol’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and many friends. She loved ice skating, crafts, sewing, playing cards, working puzzles and gardening. She particularly loved spending time with a very special group of friends. She was a lifelong member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in both the vocal and bell choirs as well as the Altar Guild. When her health started to decline in 2009, she moved to Coldwater, MI to live with her daughter Kim.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Merl and Lavina Hoverman, her husband, Gerald “Mike” Gorenchan (2000) and her sister Cleo Blomstrand of Goodyear, AZ (2010).
Carol is survived by her children: Kim and Mike Larsen of Coldwater, MI. Kellie and Richard Abrahamson of Oshkosh, WI, and Patrick and Corinne Gorenchan of Lawton, MI, and her loyal dog Dusty. She will be missed by her seven loving grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Emily Larsen, Aubrey and Jeremiah Abrahamson, and Bryce and Samantha Gorenchan.
