Brent Swanson, age 35, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024. His generous final act, he became a tissue donor, giving the gift of hope and healing to others.
Brent was born in Escanaba, MI, on December 4, 1988, and raised in Gladstone, MI. He built a successful career at Ryan Fire Protection as a dedicated sprinkler fitter, where he was next in line to become a foreman. Brent was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and a love for Michigan sports. He found immense joy in cooking, particularly mastering his smoker and crafting his signature BBQ sauces. He was a devoted husband, stepfather, son, brother, and uncle whose love and dedication were unwavering.
His grandfather, Nels Swanson, and his uncle, Dave Swanson, preceded him in death. Brent is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Lessika Swanson; his loving parents, Cathy (Steve) Gaffney and Ted (Carol) Swanson; grandmother Nina Swanson; grandparents Harold and Anne Koster; his cherished sisters, Marie (Kevin) Woods and Amanda (Tom) Panetti; his half-brother, Matthew Swanson; and his stepbrothers, Ryan and Nolan Gaffney. He will be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Konner and Brayden Woods, and his nieces, Annalyse and Emerlynn Woods, Ansley and Madisyn Panetti. He is also survived by his beloved stepdaughter, Lillian Eck, and a host of family and friends who will deeply miss his humor, warmth, and generous spirit.
A private celebration of Brent’s life will take place with his family and close friends at the Covenant Church of Gladstone with Pastor Aaron Anderson officiating.
Brent’s light touched many, and though he is gone, he leaves a legacy of love and generosity.
