Billie Marmalick, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 08, 2019, at her home in Gladstone, with her family by her side.

Billie was born on August 25, 1929, in Gladstone, the daughter of the late William and Edythe (Pettit) Heslip. She was raised in Gladstone and was a 1947 graduate of Gladstone High School. On March 31, 1951, Billie was united in marriage to Anthony Marmalick and together the couple made their home, raised their family and spent many wonderful years together in Gladstone. Anthony preceded Billie in death on February 6, 1998.

Billie was employed at the Gladstone High School for 22 years. She served as the Teamsters Union Steward, for the secretaries and aides of Gladstone High, for an impressive 20 years of her 22-year career. Billie was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone for more than 70 years and was a member of the church choir for 50 years. Additionally, Billie was a longtime member of Friends of the Library and Bay Sages. She served on the Gladstone Recreation Board and later on the board for the Gladstone Condo Association. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Sons: William (Pauline) Marmalick and Tim (Julie) Marmalick
Daughters: Toni (Bill) Marchese and Jeanne (David) Wescott
Sisters: Patricia (Harland) Clark, Bette (Irving) DeRoeck and Jackie (Gary) Johnson
Grandchildren: Clayton (Wendi), Devon, Jessica (Robert), Jim (Tianna),
Erik(Maritza Hernandez), Michael, Jill (Aaron) and Jeff (Greta)
12 Great Grandchildren
Son in law: Jay (Jane) Robinson
Special Friends: Jane Leroux Evans, Bob Johnson and Charlie (Carole) Keene
Also surviving is Barb Harris of Gentle Hearts & Hands who became Billie’s dear friend and made her final months extraordinary. Additionally, Billie’s many nieces and nephew also survive.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edythe, her husband Anthony, son Jim and daughter Beth.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow visiting hours at 5:00PM on Tuesday, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone, with Pastor Cathy Rafferty officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Billie will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Billie’s family would like to extend a warm hearted thank you to UPHS Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.

    Mrs. Marmalick was a sweetheart , every time I went to the main school office, she always had a smile on her face and said hi Neil. She made my day in high school. She will be deeply missed. May she rest in the Lord’s Peace.

    I am sorry for your loss, I have fond memories of your mother as I grew up down the street. I can still see her shaking rugs out your back door. Hold close all the memories. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    Rest In Peace Mrs. Marmalick. I have so many memories of you when I live down the alley, and at the high school when I was a teenager. You were always so kind to me, and I have never forgotten that.

    Remembering Billie fondly. I have many memories with her in them that I will hold in my heart always. Keeping Billie and her beautiful family in my prayers.

    Rest In Peace Mrs.Marmalick, you were so kind and such a sweet lady. My deepest sympathy to your family! I didn’t realize Beth passed away until reading the obituary. I used to babysit Jill and Jeff when they were really young. Beth and Jay were great parents and gave me my first babysitting job. My heartfelt sympathy to the kids and family.

    Sorry to hear about the passing of Billie. What a nice lady with a great sense of humor! I enjoyed working with her at GHS. Prayers to the family!

    Mrs. Marmalick was such a wonderful person. Always had a smile every time I was in the school office. She was the calm, in the middle of the storm. She and Tony raised a wonderful family. My condolences.

    I was very saddened to hear of Billie’s passing. I always liked her and so did mom. I always have loved her smile and little giggle. Billie and mom really did make a good team in the office. Love, prayers and peace for your family.
