Betty Elaine Heslip, age 76, of Rapid River, passed away Saturday May 30, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Betty was born December 18, 1938 in Escanaba the daughter of William F. and Mildred A. (Lunzman) Nyberg. She was raised in Rapid River where she was a 1957 graduate of Rapid River High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Gerald Heslip on May 17, 1958 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Escanaba. They made their home in Rapid River where they raised their children. Betty was an active member of the Rapid River Congregational Church where she served on Women

    My sincere sympathy to your family. Betty was such a good friend to my mom for many years. I have many memories of visiting when I was young…there was always much to tinker with and lively discussions. Hugs to you all. It is so hard to say good bye. You are all in my prayers.

    Thank you Betty and Gerald for raising those wonderful kids of yours. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of knowing and working with Jerry for many years. Have met Greg as well. Quality men. Now, Betty, you have gone on to that better place and heard your Lord and Savior say “well done, my good and faithful servant..enter into the joy of your Lord” May God rest your soul and grant peace and comfort to your family during this time.

    I know we never met but we talked on the phone alot and i feel like i knew you. We talked about many things and i said i would meet you one day and i will. I know you are where you wanted to be and you are in gods hands now and at peace. I promised you i will always look after Jerry and i will. Rest in peace now.

    We were so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. We didn’t know until July 4th. We so enjoyed running into Jerry and Betty at Walmart and catching up . Always amazing conversations. Betty always had a smile and was a very warm and caring person. You have our heartfelt condolences.

    Dear Hislep Family, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one. I was not as acquainted with Mrs.Hisleps as her family, but my family and I give our sincere condolences. A wonderful gift that God gives is His Holy Spirit to help us to be able to cope with the death of our loved ones. I hope the family has much peace.
